This
is the first picture I have of the bike with the painting process started. The
tank and seat unit were primed and then painted with a non standard yellow
tinter. It is very bright, almost lemony and I like it!
The headlamp brackets that can be seen
are stainless and far too long in my opinion. So as soon a sis possible I will
make some aluminium versions that are considerably shorter and bring the
headlamp much closer to the fork legs and clocks. You can also see in this
picture that the clocks are now the TZR250 assembly that I mentioned earlier.
Far better than the horrible mounting that I made! I had to do a little bit of
rewiring, but they look original and standard.

Another
slightly different view. there are other colours to go on top of the yellow and
you have probably guessed what they are going to be. Yep that's right.

The next job was to put the white
background on the seat and tank. This was more difficult than I thought it was
going to be. Not the painting, but deciding just exactly where I wanted the
design to be. I wanted to be able to tie in the two main areas of paint so that
any design I had looked as though it carried on between the seat and tank. I
fiddled about for ages, and I am still not sure whether I have achieved what I
wanted. I like the design, but, yes there is that but, would it have looked
better if I had done it differently. Still, it's done now and it is staying.

Here the crank cases are back in the frame and the
white background is on the seat and tank Still do not know whether I have made
the right decisions!

I quite like this angle, it seem to help tie in the design on the two
painted areas. Just what I was trying to achieve but would it have the
same effect from other angles when it was finished?
If you go to the next page there are the
pictures of the paintwork with the black Yamaha speed blocks, the de3sign made
so famous by Kenny Roberts. But I have changed the design slightly just to make
it that little bit different. Hope you like it.
